Which four?! The first four or the last four or four for the team even if Murphy was not there.

I think only hvaing four is almost as bad as not having any.......

PetPlan covers Deacon for SAR activities, as long as it is unpaid.

I have this in writing from them.

Thats interesting to hear - my vets contacted Petplan on my behalf only this morning and they said they did make a big deal of her being a 'working dog'. They (Petplan) have asked that I write them a letter explaining what the organisation does and how often the dogs work, what colour socks I wear on a tuesday...........bla bla bla!!!! [wacko]

Did you need to do this or did thay just confirm over the phone you were covered?

Hi all,

very interesting to see everyone's comments... who new that pet insurance was such a well discussed issue!

I work for a pet insurance company called Healthy Pets Insurance, and I am working on our Underwriters to see what I can do :)

Also, if anyone is interested, my boss has mentioned in the pass offereing a 10% discount on SAR dogs (if they do it through me) so if your interested let me now and ill confirm with my boss that this is still the case and see if i can get some quotes sorted :)

Very interested, Polly! Would be great to find an enlightened insurance company which realises that rather than being more of a liability than your average hound, our dogs do a fantastic job and should be recognised for that, not penalised.

Please keep us informed

Well,

My plan is...

First of all e-mail the boss to see if the discount still stands... (i am doing this as we speak)

Then im gna do a bit of research to see if other companies that AXA underwrite cover SAR dogs, and if so theres no reason we cant :)

Will keep you all posted!

Hi mate, who else do they underwrite?

The biggest problem that we find is that the answer changes based on which telesales person (or whatever we call them) that answers the phone.
