Does anyone know of any Border Collie/working sheepdog puppies that will be available over the next few months? Also rescue/rehome collies would also be considered depending on age.

And before you ask no not for us! For a couple who have thought long and hard and definitely want a collie. No children in the home.

Thanks

Many Tears (where we got Paddy) often has litters of collies/collie crosses - although it's in Wales, pups are usually fostered out and could be anywhere around the country. Worth them taking a look and keeping their eye on the site for when pups become available.

They have some collie/cross pups there at the moment (who look just like Paddy!), unfortunately, the pure collie pups they had appear to all be reserved, but the list of dogs is updated almost daily so worth continually checking - also they sometimes come off reserve if the home checks/interviews don't work out.

There are numerous collie rescue centres and websites
Here is the agility rescue page:

And here is Valgrays, where Paddy came from:

Good luck!

All depends on what they wish to pay (sounds crass!!) and if rescueing what your circumstances are with collies.

Kenel club always list breeders with current litters - normally expensive though. [ohmy]

Jill and I are currently looking for a new pup and have contacted a number of 'collie rescues' only to be turned down becuase we both work (albeit it often from home). [sad] Not that any of our previous collies have suffered by us working - anyone who knows Sassy knows how neglected she is. [laugh]

Good luck and let me know if they find a nice litter. [wink]

I went to Abergavenny this weekend and drove past the entrance to the farm where Meg came from.
The the breeder is a working Sheppard and keeps a few for training.
I can not tell you the will power is took to drive past the "Collie puppies for sale" sign.

Whilst rescue centres do a wonderful job you do have to be very careful. I wouldnt recommend anyone who is a first time owner getting a rescue dog unless its a pup and mum is well known. You just dont know what you are getting.

True even in bred litters you can end up with a freak but dogs in rescue are a different kettle of fish and recue collie with first time owners is probably a recipe for disaster.

I am Chairman and Mel is puppy list co-ordinator for the Southern Border Collie Club and if they would like to contact us we can put them in touch with people who have puppies which have had all the checks. hopefully, we will have pups late november from Breeze (Bodger and mist's mum).
Also, while I have your attention we are currently carrying out in conjuction with the AHT (Animal health Trust) at trying to find the link for idopathic epilepsy in Border collies. If you are interested in taking part then please contact me for further details. Everything is totally confidential and the results will only be discussed with the researchers and the owners.
