Parliamentary Debate

There will be a "Westminster Hall" debate in Parliament starting at 9.30am on Wednesday 21 January on the subject "Mountain Rescue teams". It will be
led by Brian Iddon MP, (Labour, Bolton South-East).
Westminster Hall debates run in parallel to the House of Commons and are used by MPs to raise issues and have to be responded to by a Minister. This particular debate will last for 90 minutes, so there is plenty of time for MPs to speak.
The debate will be seen and heard via http://www.parliamentlive.tv which also has an archive feature so it doesn't have to be watched live. The debate will also be published in Hansard, the official report of Parliamentary proceedings, and will be found at http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmhansrd/cm090121/hallindx/90121-x.htm -- but note this link won't work until at least Wednesday afternoon.
Westminster Hall debates are sometimes poorly attended so any encouragement to MPs to attend can help make the Minister, and the civil servants that
also attend, realise the importance of issues under discussion.
