Last week I attended a 4/5 Day specialist search dog workshop run by Ann-Jo Proos in the French regional park of the Morvan. It is about 3 hours SE of Paris most of it by very good autoroute.
Ann-Jo and her partner Hugo have a lot experience of training and working their own operational search dogs in several countries including disaster and rubble work.
The location offers several sites for woodland, cleared forestry and pastureland training which can be worked in trailing, hasty or area mode depending on your needs.
I found this by a web search sometime ago.
http://www.dog-adventure.com/My dog Ella and myself were at Alert/Refind stage when we went and Ann-Jo provided a personalised training scheme for the week that went at our pace and really paid off. Together with the three other students ( from Netherlands, Germany and France) Ella and I enjoyed a relaxed if challenging 5 days training which just flew by. Training was incremental with feedback supported by video.
Accommodation is a good 'hostel' standard own room with ensuite and use of a large lounge upstairs. The food is home cooked, tasty and plentiful. As you'd expect the dogs are well catered for and for the morning/evening walk the village roads are very quiet and you have a short walk to country tracks/paths that go for miles.
Given what you get, the cost at c. £400.00 (depends on Euro rate of course) is very good value (IMO) and an opportunity to meet other handlers then work and learn with your dog in a new environment with new faces (aka fresh mispers) and quality instruction.
It is also country/outdoor holiday in a pleasant and green part of France.
I recommend it!
