Hello guys, I need to know if anyone has trained a Parson Russell Terrier (or similar) to search in rubbles.
I'm thinking of training a small dog, to search whithin confined spaces where larger dogs can not pass. It would be a good complement for the Labradors and German shepherd.
What do you think about?
Can you advise on this?

Nothing wrong with JRT`s great little dogs, big hearts and love to work we have 3 in our family, all with great noses and hardy too.
Lowland seach dogs Sussex have two.
Go for it and let us know how you get on.
Good Luck

Thanks for your advice.
I was a little discouraged. Last year I visited a school of firefighters near of Liverpool, and the firefichters told me that if I try to train a JRT would spend more time looking for the dog in the rubble that training the JRT.
Does the Jack Russell´s character very different form a Parson?

As far as i`m aware the Parsons have longer legs and more than likely cost a dam site more,
i was told that JTR`S were snappy and would never have good recall.
OH HOW WRONG ours are great on recall and love people and other dogs never had a problem and the oldest is 14yrs young.
So you go for it.

I like challenges.
Next year I will retire one of my dogs, so it is very likely to select a Parson.
Do you know any reliable breeder?
Thanks.

No I don't as I have always got mine from people I know and they are JRT
Not Parsons
Just google Parsons Jack Russells Terriers
Once found then talk to the breeders and find pit as much info as possible
