Couple of short video clips

Hi Guys

wasnt too sure where to put these but they may be of interest to other handlers - I am trying to collate a series of clips of dogs in action and will hopefully have more after I return from working with the Norwegians next week. (It may give us another perspective on indications). Anyway the clip of Dot and I being winched into the helicopter demonstrates clearly how a slightly misaligned harness buckle can cause the dog some discomfort (adjustments have been made now and she is fine).

Ouch she really didn't seem too impressed, poor little girl...... [ohmy]

How was she once in the helicopter, did she settle ok?

Also which position do you find best for lifting her, I've heard that there are pro's and con's for them all i.e. Dog in front of handler, dog behind handler, dog below handler.

Pete.

Hi Pete

yes she was fine in the helicopter - in fact we went out for quite a long flight and then an exercise and she fell asleep!

With regards to positions - she seems better when I dont try to hold her too tightly in front of me - ie let the sling on the grab hook take the weight of her.

Just got back from 6 days in Norway with the SAR dog teams there - very interesting that they use all their dogs for a combination of airscenting, tracking and evidence grid searching - made it impossoble to set them up areas to train in due to ground contamination so spent most of the time moving to clean ground!!

Hopefully a report from the trip plus some video and phots will be up on the Lakes website in the next few days
