A TOTAL of 80 rescuers were called out after six men aged 19 and 20 became lost on Kinder Scout on Tuesday evening.
Buxton, Edale and Kinder Mountain Rescue Teams were called out together with three search and rescue dogs for the rescue which took six hours to complete.

From speaking to them via a mobile phone it became clear that the group, from Manchester, had set off from Glossop in the morning. They had reached the Kinder Downfall mid afternoon and followed the Kinder River onto the plateau before becoming disorientated.

In deteriorating conditions with visibility down to 20 metres the group, who had some camping equipment with them, were told to erect their tent and seek shelter inside.

They were located by a search dog handler on the Southern Edge, South of Crowden Tower.

The party was then escorted on foot to Edale Village. Arrangements were then made for them to stop overnight at Pindale.

* Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams were called to Litton on Tuesday afternoon after a 60-year-old walker from Sheffield had slipped on the muddy path, injuring her lower right leg.

She was treated on site by EMAS personnel, and carried by team personnel to Litton Village.

There she was transferred into an ambulance and taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.
