www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk wrote:Three dogs from the CanTech Search and Rescue Dog Association charity spent the weekend searching for Michael Conboy.

Mr Conboy, of Saxcourt, north Hull, was reported missing shortly before 9am on Monday, April 20, and has not been seen by his family since then.

His brother and three sisters and their children are deeply concerned for his welfare and fear he may be confused.

Police have already searched the area around his home and former places of work in and around the Bricknell Avenue area of west Hull.

They have also searched the Northern Cemetery in Chanterlands Avenue, west Hull, which Mr Conboy mentioned to his family.

After being requested by Humberside Police, three dog teams from the charity searched the area around Dane Park Road, north Hull and Snuff Mill Lane, which runs from Hull to Cottingham, on Saturday.

CanTech responds to call-outs across the country and is a member of the National Search and Rescue Dog Association.

Search dogs are used in a wide range of incidents from lost walkers and climbers to missing children and possible victims of crime.

Dog handler Paul Tedder said: "We train dogs to be able to find human scent, which is carried in the air.

"Every one of these dogs has good a good nose and we tune it in so it reacts to smells we want it to.

"If the dog finds something, they get a treat, either food or a toy, which encourages them to do it again.

"The searches we do replace a police foot team going through an area. We search areas we are told to by the police search adviser and contact them if we find anything."

It is calculated a dog is equivalent to about 20 searchers in good conditions and many more in poor conditions.

Mr Conboy is white, 5ft 4in to 5ft 5in tall, very slim, balding with grey hair.

He usually wears glasses and dresses smartly, wearing a shirt, tie and trousers.

Mr Conboy, or anyone with information about his whereabouts, should call police on 0845 6060222.
