Hi I'm Niki (married to Daryl). I am the Secretary for Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs. I also assisted Daryl in setting up the team initially all those years ago.

I have been involved in searching in whatever form for over 15 years now (blimey makes me sound old!!!! [tongue2] ) I was initially involved with SEBEV Search & Rescue and worked my way up the ranks being Membership Secretary, Medical Officer, SAR Coordinator and finally Chairman. I was also on the Mamagement Committee for several years. I left SEBEV last year due to Berkshire SAR Dogs getting alot bigger and active and needing my time more and also due to the birth of our son Callum.

I currently work part time as a State Registered Paramedic with South Central Ambulance Service. I have worked in the Ambulance Service since 2001 and love almost every moment. I am also registered with the Motorsport Association as once of their Paramedics. Mainly I have worked on the rally circuit but have been known to attend some karting events too. Believe it or not they can be almost as scary at times. When not at work I am a full time mum (and do the occasional bit of housework, etc, etc) When I get some spare time I love doing all kinds of crafting bits such as making cards, knitting, silver jewellery, quilt making, cross stitch, scrapbooking, basically you name it and I'll have a go at it!

Within Berkshire SAR Dogs I am Level 3 Air-Scenting qualified with Guinness (Daryl's dog) and currently training Scrumpy. I am also a qualified Search Manager and Team Leader. Scrumpy is a Border Collie, Springer Spaniel, Whippet cross. I know but you will be glad to hear that he has his collie head on when searching but definitely his Whippet legs!!!!!!!!! Scrumpy is 22 months old and has been training since he was about 3 months old. Unforunately he is taking a little longer as I had to take a break when I had Callum last year but we are getting back into it all big style now and are hoping to one of the first if not the first dog and handler to go the fast track route straight into area work. Fingers Crossed!!!!!!

If you ever thought your dog can't count, try putting 3 dog biscuits in your pocket and only giving him 2!!!
