A newbie from Scotland

Postby Moobli » Mon Mar 16, 2009 3:17 pm

I am a new member of the forum and joined as I have been interested in SAR dogs for some time. I would love to train a SAR dog for lowland rescues, finding mispers etc and would be grateful to know whether there are any such organisations in my area (Berwickshire/East Lothian). I currently own two German shepherds (7 years and 9 months) and two border collies who are also working sheepdogs (who are 4 years and 5 years).

I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful work you guys (and your dogs!) do [biggrin] .

Hi Kirsty.
Welcome to our forum. some on her will tell you collies are the best for SAR but some of us disagree, this is a standing joke among us here, as we all have different dogs and think ours are the best.

Thanks for the welcome Mandy. I have seen some piccies of your dogs in the gallery - they are stunning. There is an American Inuit (I think!) at the hydrotherapy pool where I take my older GSD for treatment. The guy who runs it is a very experienced SAR man, and I am just waiting for the opportunity to chat to him about his work.

He is Tom Middlemas if anyone has heard of him.
