Hello

I have been trying to find a suitable activity for myself and my labrador to be involved in for some time now, so was really pleased when I found this website while doing some on-line searches this evening.

I have two dogs a Lab and a Ridgeback. I obtained Beth, the labrador, when she was 18 months, insufficient socialisation skills and no training. I have worked hard on both, to socialise her as much as possible aswell as train her in obediance. She has moved along really well, has basic obediance, heel, sit, down, stay, away, responds to hand signals from a distance and loves playing searching games. I tell her to sit and stay, while I hide articles in the woods, return to her and then tell her to 'go find it'. It's not so easy to do this when I have my Ridgeback with me, as he tends to break the stay and will come over to find out what I am doing. For some time, I have been wanting to partake with others in 'search' activities with her, but didn't know how to find an appropriate place to do this. Beth is clicker trained, learnt plenty of tricks and I have tried agility with her, but concluded that agility doesn't really suit her. Ideally I would like to have a dog who I can train from the start so I can progress further, but for now, I am still learning myself and I love the time that I share with both my dogs. I am also doing a distance learning course with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training which I have found enjoyable.
