Hey Tom Welcome
Looking forwards to meeting for you.
Worth trying this to see if search and rescue training with dogs is for you.
Go into the garden on a really cold, wet and horrid night, lay down until you are absolutely frozen and soaked through.
Then just as you are dropping off to sleep, get a dog (not yours) to jump on your chest and lick your face having previously eaten something dubious.
Then get people to shine torches in your eyes to ruin your night vision, expect you to be able to leap up and follow them without a care that you might want to collect your belongings.
Be able to do that week in week out and you'll fit right in to the team.
I defy you to come back to this post in a year and say it isn't fun.
At the same time when you are soaking wet and miserable at 3 in the morning, be proud that today you may have helped save someone's life.
