I'm writing a story about a dog who was abused early in life, moved to different homes and was sent back to the shelter many times, and is finally adopted by a 'mountain rescue team' and is trained to search for people who are in danger.

Hi,

Not that i'm biased (!) but probably a Border Collie!

If im not mistaken, the majority of MR dogs are collies!

To be honest everyone will probably have a different opinion but that's mine [biggrin]

Good Luck with the story and let us know when its finished as I'd love to read it!

Of course you two would be biased;-)

And I am too but for the strong healthy cross breed that brings out the best of each traits of its ancestry!

And yes please keep up posted about your book?

Good luck

Zab

I'm not biaised, but if you go onto any of the Mountain Rescue Dog Team websites and look at their dog team photos, you will see that most are Collies, also some Labradors (now I am biaised!) [laugh] You will also find a lot of collies in rescue centres, unfortunately - so that would work well for your story.

As the others said, keep us informed about your book, we'll all be interested in reading it. I hope your research will include volunteering as a dogsbody for an MR team's training session - that's the fun bit!!

What about Bernese Mountain Dog. Regarded by many as the most beautiful of the four breeds of Swiss Mountain Dogs, the Bernese is the only one with a long coat. Its ancestry traces to mastiff-type dogs of Roman times, which crossbred with local herding dogs to produce offspring smaller in stature but just as trustworthy and devoted.
