Scent Probe / Tube

Mon Nov 25, 2013 3:00 pm

If there is anyone out there still on the forum.....

Has anyone made scent tubes, like the Elite K9 version, using PVC waste pipe? I have searched around but cannot find any plain end caps or bungs in the usual Wickes / B&Q etc?

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich
if you're using the orange pipes go to a builders merchant. B&Q etc don't do them

Rich,

I used to use plastic plumbing pipes that you could get threaded and screw on end caps, most plumbers merchants used to stock them.
If you only want to use them for a hide with the scent source inside try and sweat talk your local police into donating some "evidence tubes", these are plastic tubes that come in two parts and screw together. They come in various sizes and are made of clear plastic.
I use them for training my cadaver / dvsd pup and the tubes can easily fit a piglet inside.
Just dont try retrieving with them.

Phillip, hopefully I will meet you at the beginning of December when I go over with Dave M

Have you thought about a plastic screw together postal tube?

Something like this: http://www.rose-plastic.co.uk/13454.0.html

They come in all sorts of sizes! [biggrin]

Hi all,

Orange pipes???

I'll have a look at the postal tubes, would be good to have a variety of sizes for various sized scent samples.

Our POLSA is slow to reply at the best of times so I don't hold out much luck for the evidence tubes!!
