What to have in my first aid kit

Could anyone give me a list of what to have in my first aid kits (Dog & Human) or suggest commercially available kits but these seem to me to be either too small or much more than is really needed
I have done a FAW course (a long long time ago) but would like advice from the group as to what would be suitable as I searched the forum but only found comments to say we need to have them & there was mention of a bum bag size kit but there was no specifics that I could find on what to put in it

Hi Nick,

It is down to personal preference, but it is hard to know what you need.
From a personal point of view, this is what I have in mine...

Waterproof (Low Allergy) Plasters (Assorted)
Triangular Bandage
Safety Pins
Large Dressing
Medium dressing (2)
Non alcoholic Wipes (4)
Nitrile Powder Free Gloves (4Pairs)
Conforming Bandage
Cohesive bandage (vet wrap)
Eye dressing
Roll of Micropore tape
Pair of Scissors

While not exactly "first aid" I carry these for persaonal use
Antihistamine cream
Paracetomol
Blister plasters

If you look on places like st johns and other such site they have quite good "personal" kits with these sorts of contents for around £10

Watch this space for an official answer from the training team. We have this is a work in progress at the moment.

noooooooooooo not pullers, twisters, or the little f.....s will dig their legs in = i septic mess.

Use tic thingies (proffessional name) anti clockwise so their little sodding legs come out in one. When I asked the Vet "how do the little buggers know when we are doing anticlockwise" his answer was "just do it sue and stop asking annoying questions" which means he has NFID. I say it's probably how the little f...ers legs lie. [ninja]

At the risk of bringing this thread off topic: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-remove-a-tick/

Works beautifully, it's easy (with a little practice), requires no special tools and there's no risk of leaving the tick head or legs in the doggy.

That all works for me. Stored in a suitable soft case and sealed in a plastic zip-lock bag to keep it dry.

Most that Mark said.
Plus a few more rolls of vet rap ( you can get Tescos own )
Savalon spray
Anything you can use for compresson
Antihistamine Tablets ( piroton ) for snake bites
Remember its First aid

This is only to get the dog back to the car which you can be shure is going to be very quick ( I'm not going to hang around )
Carry a extensive First Aid in the car

I used to carry half the pharmacy but after what happend to a member and there dog have now rethought and only carry stuff to stop bleading and a few other things rest is in car

I have a small canine first aid kit but I would use any of that stuff on me too! To be honest it is only to patch you up to get you back to the car/help.

Although I do have some saline pots in mine, but fresh water will do in an emergency and all dog handlers will have that.
