Its all down to personal choice and budget Shane,

Some the guys use LOWA, some use HI TEC, some Magnums and pretty much all points in between.

I bought a pair of expensive Meindl ones, wore them at home, hated them, took them back and bought a much more comfortable (and cheaper)
pair of hi Tec ion mask ones which are geat for me.

If you buy from somewhere like cotswolds (we get discount there too) they will let you take them home and provided you've only worn them in the house they will change them if they are not right.

My best advice is listen to people.... go and try on a load and buy what fits your feet and your budget.

Just make sure they are waterproof because you never know...... :-)

My personal preference is LOWA.

The do a good range, I have a few pairs but my SAR boots are Mountain GTX (Gortex). Light, hardwearing and not a blister ever straight from the box.

Can be expensive but my advice would be find a decent boot retailer or specialist shop like HM Suplies, go and try some on, find the right size fitting, so "no thanks" then buy them on the net at about 20% cheaper [wink]

(How tight am I.....!!!!) [ohmy]

Good luck with them - if you do get some Haix's wouldn't mind a look to see how good they are.

I spent quite a while with various different types of boots, some were good at some things but not others and in the end I got a pair of magnums from the hi-tec outlet shop in Swindon. Can't remember exactly which ones, but they are hi-too, all leather and waterproof. Always been really comfortable (apart from a few days breaking in) and are still comfortable after a good few hours on your feet through mud and all sorts. They are much, much cheaper than anywhere else at Swindon.
But like most people have said, it's a bit trial and error wih all boots and you will only get to know them after having them on your feet for a couple of weeks. One bit of advice though, if you do find a pair that work for you, get another spare pair, cos here's nothin worse than finding a pair that you love and then not being able to find them again when the dog eats them.......in my case.

Hi Shane - in case you are interested, my hubby has a pair of size 9 Magnums for sale. He's hardly worn them. Let me know if you want any more info.
