Travel for training and tax perks

Postby psutton » Tue Mar 25, 2008 11:59 am

Hi all,

I am Peter Sutton, a Station Officer with the Fire & Rescue Service in Western Australia. I am also a dog handler but manage the Urban Search and Rescue Canine Section here. We currently have eight dog teams (10 dogs) in training to the New Zealand Canine Readiness Evaluation Process - we use a NZ Senior Asessor, WA Police Assessor and one of our two USAR Veterinarians.

I am looking for interested handlers/trainers in the USAR field who may be coming to Australia, particuarly Perth WA to join us in a training workshop. Obsviously, this would be a 'you scratch our back' and 'we scratch yours' scenario. You know what it is like when you travel, don't know people and don't know places. This is a way to make your holiday plan work well.

Only qualified or at least experienced trainers would be suitable. We would look at providing accomodation for your trip, a tour of our lovely state, possibly a workshop in our winery region etc.

Any thoughts on such a plan - maybe this could be expanded some??

Sounds Fantastic, but unfortunately not my area of K9 SAR.

Maybe you will get some interest from some of the other handlers on this site.

Pass the word around about the forum, maybe get some of your Handlers/Assessors on here too!

Hi Peter,

I will pass on your details to the head of Uk Fire Service Search & Rescue Dog Team. I know they do travel to other countries, I belive they are/have visited FEMA this year.

Pete.

Hi Peter,

Currently we have no team members travelling to Australia. However drop me an e-mail and I will see what we can do.
