SEARCH teams with sniffer dogs are hunting for a man who went missing from his home on Friday.

Peter Young, 47, of Scorton, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, was last seen around 7.30am.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue and the police carried out an unsuccessful search on Saturday in the Middleton Tyas and Scorton area.

advertisementThey were joined by Cleveland plus Teasdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue teams today.

Paul Denning, of the Swaledale team, said: "Usually people who have gone missing have not gone very far.

"He was spotted between Middleton Tyas and Moulton by two people on Saturday.

"We always start looking for a live casualty who for someone reason known to them has gone into hiding.

"If we don't find him the police may have to go and see if he has relatives elsewhere in the country and try to track them down."

Mr Young is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build with green eyes and short mousey-brown greying hair.

He was last seen in dark blue jeans and a dark blue jumper. Anyone who can help trace Mr Young should call the police on 0845-6060-247.
