Hi,
I'm new to this subject and wondered what peoples views were on this topic.
The obvious and best way to train a dog to find something is to use that "something" when training. For instance to teach a dog to find drugs we hide drugs. For a cadaver dog it is not possible to do this so we use substitutes. From my limited knowledge we use pseudo scents or pork.
I would be interested in hearing from the people out there who use pork in this training as to their methods as regards using and keeping the pork. Things like how soon can it be used for training? Can we use it fresh or should it be allowed to rot considerably first. Also how are people keeping it till they use it. For instance is keeping meat in a sealed container away from the flies the right thing or should it be left in the open air or does it not matter? Should it be kept refrigerated?
A minefield of questions!!
Regards Charlie
